In most ways, Invisalign is just as good as braces. Although there are a few bite related problems that may be addressed more easily with braces, the advantages of removable clear aligners often outweigh any advantages braces may have.
Invisalign treatment is used to correct the esthetic and functional problems of misaligned teeth in much the same way braces do. In other words, smiles can be made more beautiful and bite problems can be corrected using Invisalign.
Generally the cost of Invisalign is very similar to the cost of doing braces. Each case is unique, so coming in for a free consultation is the best way to see how affordable Invisalign can be.
Actually most patients feel very little pain with Invisalign. Typically the discomfort associated with Invisalign is quite a bit less than the discomfort of doing braces.
Typically Invisalign will take about as long, or possibly a bit shorter time than doing braces would. Complicated cases take longer than more simple cases will take. One of the big questions we answer in a free consultation is how long the process will take, so call us now for a free consultation!
Although Invisalign has a product aimed exclusively at young children, most kids will do better with traditional braces. Once all the permanent teeth have erupted (usually around 12 or 13) Invisalign becomes a good option, and a possible alternative to braces.
The main concern people seem to have with Invisalign is that patients need to think about their orthodontic treatment more often. Trays need to be removed each time you eat or brush your teeth, but the trays should really be in 22-23 hrs per day. This means no forgetting to wear them! Most patients think this is a good trade off, but it is always good to discuss the pros and cons with an orthodontist before deciding which is the better treatment for you.
A typical General Dentist sees at most a few orthodontic patients a year, and Invisalign is their only option. Dr. Wright has treated over 12,000 orthodontic patients, and understands all the important aspects of (and the need for!) a customized orthodontic plan for each patient. Invisalign may be the best treatment for you, but there may be reasons why you may not be a good candidate for Invisalign. Also if things don’t go exactly as planned, a general dentist will not know about all the options for finishing your case. Dr. Wright DOES. For specialty work like Orthodontics, it’s ALWAYS better to be seen and treated by a dedicated Specialist like Dr. Wright.
